3 miniature sculptures produced by stereo-lithography rapid prototyping process: plaster and epoxy resin
Edition of 3 plus Artists’ Proof. Dimensions: 8 x 10 x 16 cm
The Messengers No.2 continues an exploration in bodyscanning technologies in 3D and 4D and proposes a shift from the human to miniature scale. The heads of the 3 female artists have been complemented by the addition of wings referencing Hypnos, the God of Sleep and are small enough to fit in the palm of a hand. The genesis for self-replication stems from a desire to access impossible spaces, and a shift in scale, form, volume or material may act as a means to facilitate this freedom. This playful manipulation of the body’s anatomical boundaries, through metamorphosis and scale, enables the artists’ portraits to shift between the real and the virtual.
