The Unnamed (2010)

Medium Watercolour on paper. Unframed dimensions 50cm x 40cm
The watercolour drawings for The Non-existence of the Unnamed, portray the suggested encounters between the artist’s living flesh and the re-animated specimens from the Entomology collection at Manchester University Museum. Transformed into a series of theatrical masquerades, the drawings reveal the tension between the idea of the act, and the act itself, creating both intimate and terrifying results. Made as collaborative drawings, the artists are collectively engaged in their production; articulating the intimacy of Brass Art’s long-standing working relationship.
For The Non-existence of the Unnamed at the International3, Brass Art installed a single light bulb in the gallery to reveal the pinned images within the darkened space.
